About the event
Help clean native seeds collected by volunteers!
Cleaning native seeds is a great way to give back, hang out with others in the community who love native plants and gardening and learn more about local botany in a relaxing setting. Plus, it's a super fun atmosphere to grab a beer, wine or non-alcoholic option at the lively Odell Brewing Taproom in Fort Collins, our hosts for this event. Volunteers will work on seeds collected in Northern Colorado by volunteers this summer. The seeds have dried in our office and we need your help to prepare them for our annual NoCo Native Seed Swap on November 16th, a free event to give away and trade native seeds within the community.
Seed cleaning is an essential activity for our native seed sharing program, as native seeds are hard to purchase commercially. By cleaning seeds for the community, you help to ensure that more native plants are used in local gardens and small restoration projects, supporting local wildlife, reducing water and pesticide use and connecting our communities.
