ABOUT HABITAT LIBRARY -

all about the places where we live, Habitat Library’s mission is to help connect people to nature, land, and the places where we live and work. Our goal is to help create a caring community around the love of nature, and all the unexpected wonders to be found in the city and beyond. It's been three months since we launched the Habitat Library. We've had several encouraging high points along the way, but none as inspirational as this weekend's inaugural Black Reads Book Club Series, presented in partnership with Denver's Stiles African American Heritage Center. A wonderful group assembled at the Stiles Center for a spirited discussion of Lisa Gail Collins' Stitching Love and Loss: A Gee's Bend Quilt in March. After yesterday's wide-ranging conversation, we are even more enthusiastic about recommending this exceptional book. It tells a simple story that leads to deeper themes of generational memories, the interplay of grief and creativity, the resilience of community and connection, and the importance of stories. On behalf of the Habitat Library and the Stiles African American Heritage Center, thanks to everyone who shared so much at our first Black Reads Book Club. There will be more to come!
